Biography
The earliest memory I have of someone being impressed with my drawing abilities was in 6th grade. As a result of learning about early pioneer days, I drew a buffalo. Although the teacher gave me an “A” – my dad thought that I had traced it. He offered to pay me $5.00 if I would draw him another one, while he watched. That was a big reward for me that I eagerly pursued and gained. Guess that was my first commissioned piece!
I married at eighteen and then spend many years using my creative energies to build a family and survive single parenting.
Most of my working career was as a supportive team member in the medical industry. Prior to that I managed and was involved in the sign making and printing businesses.
Now many years later, with children grown and gone, my greatest satisfaction has been pursuing more artistic adventures. I have made porcelain dolls, taken some pottery and drawing classes and learned stained glass. The beginners’ stained-glass class, I now teach is truly inspiring. It’s exciting to see their beautiful glass projects, using this vintage art form. However, painting with colored pencils became my tool for fun, expression and passion. I simply must draw
Some of my drawings are an attempt to experience beauty in forgotten places – my abandoned series. Other series include: Vintage Faces. Florals, Whimsical portraits and more.
Hope you enjoy!
