Glass
After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Art/Graphic Design, Sally found herself increasingly drawn to bold color and geometric design. This curiosity led her to an introductory class in stained glass, where she discovered a lasting passion for working with glass. Over time, she expanded her craft, first transferring her stained glass skills to glass mosaic garden stones, and later incorporating fused glass into her work after adding a kiln to her studio. Today, Sally combines fused glass elements with stained glass strips to create distinctive mixed-glass compositions.
Sally’s work captures a vibrant combination of color and texture, blending traditional stained glass techniques with fused glass embellishments. Her inspiration comes primarily from the beauty and allure of nature, as well as from the inherent character of the glass itself. Unlike traditional stained glass, she often uses larger pieces of glass to fully showcase the color variations, and movement within the glass—allowing these qualities to become an integral part of the design.
All of Sally’s designs are original, many of which incorporate branches. These are real tree branches, carefully wrapped in copper foil and soldered, adding an organic, sculptural element that deepens the connection between her work and the natural world.
