Biography
Since I was a little girl, I’ve enjoyed crafting and art. When visiting my grandmother, I recall being given a box full of yarn, beads and other items and being told to “create something”. This nurtured my love of all things handmade. As a teen in the 1960’s, macramé was the “thing” and I can’t tell you how many plant hangers I made! During this time, I was introduced to natural stone, shell and wooden beads and began making necklaces.

After a break for family and work, my beading passion took over. Starting off with simple stringing, I developed a love for super-small seed beads, off loom bead weaving and bead embroidery. My work (fun!) now includes beaded cabochon necklaces using anything with a domed shape, from fused glass to natural stone and old buttons. I also design and create fancy, intricate woven beaded jewelry for special occasions and wedding wear.

I retired after 23 years with the U.S. District Court. Finding myself with what seemed like endless time, I started to explore mosaics. I researched and created my own process for cutting vintage China plates and setting them on tables and cabinets. The first summer of my retirement was spent in my garage perfecting my craft.

I acquired an old violin through a friend of mine. The violin itself has quite an unusual story and receiving it got my creative juices flowing! This was the start of my mosaic violin series. I have since moved on to guitars, banjos and other musical instruments. I love taking old and vintage items and repurposing them to something new and unexpected.

I am self-taught and have been beading for 20 years now. My mosaic work has been perfected over the last 10 years. I don’t have an art degree but what I do have is a love and passion to create and try new things. I hope you enjoy my work!
